This semester we had a series of large group talks based on Scriptures that call us to “watch out” or “be careful” for certain things. We invited our speakers to share some of the major things that we are told to “beware/be careful/watch out” for. These things are a grace to us, as they show us our weakness and point us to the Savior who will forgive us when we fall and turn to him. They also show us how the Lord desires that his children might not fall in the first place for their own joy.
Here’s picture of our friend David Bailey, who does full time music ministry in Richmond, speaking at large group.
We also received many unexpected blessings this semester, such as this anonymous financial gifts to our Downtown Ministry (DTM) that serves the homeless in Newport News.
Its also just sweet to see the way God grows new relationships so quickly. Students who did not know each other in August are now in regular habits of studying the Word together and living life together.
Eric and I worked a lot of nights and weekends, and this year Julian was old enough to come with us to some of our events – like our annual volleyball tournament. Here are some photos of this year’s costumes, and the small groups communities that are growing in our chapter this fall.

Well…you can probably tell what the worship team’s theme was.

And of course, I saved the best for last. The Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers – aka, The Vision Team.

About a week after the volleyball tournament, we hosted Matthew Smith and Indelible Grace in concert for the second time. It was such a blessing to have him come and not just sing but also teach our chapter about hymns and the importance of preaching the Gospel through music.
